Want to add that additional bit of flair to your fence? Ever thought about adding an arbor or pergola? You can also add a gate or use simply as a fun décor piece for your yard.
Arbor vs. Pergola
Let's explain the differences between an arbor and a pergola. First, we'll start with the arbor. Arbors are normally smaller in size and often have an arch. Often times they serve as an entrance to the yard or a garden area. They are generally freestanding, but can also be attached to a fence. Arbors have been increasingly made from vinyl rather than some of the other traditional materials. The sides of an arbor can be open or covered with lattice or trellis work for a more enclosed look and to also help grow vines easier.
Pergolas are larger in scale as compared to an arbor. The tops of pergolas are often flat and many times they are attached to houses as an overhang or deck area space. The main purpose of a pergola is to have an area to enjoy the outdoors in. Many people will hang lights to decorate their pergolas.
